Last night after I got out of class, I had a chance to talk to a fellow classmate who just got back from a year in Iraq. Here’s what he saw:

  • Biggest problem was logistics, he personally saw more “creature comfort” crap coming in for the lower officers than for the front line guys. Things were getting much better though when he had left.
  • The vast majority of the people he met in Iraq wanted us to stay to make things stable. Almost everyone he saw (except for the ones firing guns at him) was glad Saddam was gone. Once that’s done, then they want us to get out of the cities.
  • Carry a pack of American cigarettes with you, the people over there love American smokes and you can get more out of two cigarettes than all the money in the world.

More later…
